LAHORE, July 6: A dejected patient has sent a legal notice to a doctor for giving wrong reports of CT Scan, ultrasound and digital X-ray and demanded Rs10 million as damages.

Khalil Bhatti sent the notice through his counsel, Advocate Hasan Kamran Bashir, and asked Prof Dr Nawaz Anjum to pay the damages within 15 days.

The counsel stated in the notice that his client had a pain in abdomen and blood in urine. On the advice of his doctor, he visited Prof Dr Anjum for the aforementioned tests. He said the professor in his reports ruled out possibility of a stone, but blood was detected in urine and haematuria was diagnosed by other doctors.

He said top doctors of the country conducted the tests of his client that clearly showed a stone at the pelvic uretic junction.

Resultantly, his client underwent lithotripsy procedure thrice as advised by doctors.

The lawyer said: “The malicious, callous and criminal act of Prof Dr Anjum caused mental, physical and financial injury to my client that cannot be measured in terms of money, but it is valued at Rs10 million.”

If the respondent fails to pay the damages within 15 days, civil and criminal proceedings will be initiated against him, the notice added.
