Why not. If doctors need more money and more facilities, why don't the engineers?

I dont know what demand doctors have as am out of the country for long and thanks. The time that I graduated , the province I hailed from had only two government sponsored medical institutes ( no private medical colleges commissioned ) at that time. It was cut throat competition to get into a medical college.No words I can think of can describe that. While in medicine it was an 16 to 18 hours study round the clock, have to miss out all the fun life has to offer straight upto 6 years. In short what happens at the end when you graduate superiority complex is relatively smaller word for most of the top 20 grads, I guess it should be more like God complex. My message to all those talking against docs, ye lo and behold, yes we are the cream of the society, yes we should have brought up all the problems long ago, and yes in failed state country where every institute is corrupt and dysfunctional talking about OATHS and serving the humanity are nothing but mere myths, absurd dysfunctional prattle. Most of you who are against docs your reasoning is motivated by envy and nothing else. To cut it short, I can guarantee you one thing in the end docs got to prevail.

I am a soldier guarding the wall, mostly posted to inhumane and harsh terrain, face extreme cold and hot weather, work hours are defined as 24/7, am likely to be killed, i am not allowed to work any other even part time, i am not allowed to engage in any other business of profit whatsoever and the job that i do (can't mention the exact nature) requires at least 7-12 yrs of very expensive training and experience before one can deliver. we have worst promotion structure in the three servicesand least paid. if we go on strike you don't have our replacement in open market you can only train new and we are only about 800 in service (which is about 12% less than what is actually required). if only 100 of us go on strike the whole country will be at the mercy of an aggressor and you would be all slave doctors and engineers (ironically even me)

It is about time that our doctors, the cream of the nation, got what they truly deserved. I have seen the living conditions of the trainees. The conditions are abject and reflects an attitude of thanklessness towards these hard-working, literate doctors. It is shameful for us to subject such highly qualified and educated people to such apathy.

the most educated class of society has suffered a lot...we havewaited so lng for our rights but stirke the only sound which our government listens.

Oh come on...You dont have anyone in your family who is a doctor. Engineers are paid very well and they work in a good environment. I'm surprised why this issue has been raised so late. My brother was not pad for 8 month and this has not happened once.This is why every other doctor wants to leave PK and go elsewhere. 90% of KE graduates are in the US.Then we say why the youth not stay in PK?

the issue is not of money it was the peacefull strike for rights. you don't know the working environment of doctors. first go and observe and then you are most wellcome to comment brother

I a little surprised by those who are complaining, If a doctor opted to work in government hospital. He or She knew the pay scale and fringe benefits then why complain and if i recall correctly most of the young doctor's reason for joining medical colleges was to serve humanity? So where did this Nobel cause vanish? Another point of concern that i have is medical malpractices which are way to high in Pakistan. I must say good job to Punjab Government and hope all our provinces follow your foot steps to remove medical black sheeps and those with double standards.

Every one in Pakistan wants to get paid without working. So the doctors are doing the same.

If a class of society did not do her job due to which whole nation dye. It mean that class is superior to all class. Open your eyes. No one is equal to the doctors. So don,t compare your self.

You probably have not gone to a med school and dont know how much of a hard work a med student puts in. Do you know how much respect and salary a dr gets elsewhere? The doctors are paid so less and not even paid for months- like 8 months.....

Punjab govt says that they dont have budget to fulfill the demands of doctors.I ask the govt did anyone living in Lhr ask you to start big projects and spend billions and billions over un neccessary luxuries.that money could have been spended on all the govt employees whether doctors ,engineers, teachers, or projects that could adjust young unemployed degree holders.What will we do of these big roads when we dont have much to buy car and then fuel expenses.Govt is not serious in making a bright future of any youngster except carpeted roads for their bullet proof vehicles.I support the young doctors who raise their issues and i expect media to bring youngsters from other professions to strive for basic rights..DONT LET CORRUPT AND LEAST BOTHERED LEADERS TO KEEP YOU IN DARK AND TREAT YOU LIKE SHEEPS.

I am sorry you are pediatrician that doe not make you highly qualified person. We physicians in USA had to take a significant pay cut this past decade. We never went on strike and abandon our patients. Shame on you guys for abandining patients and letting them die.

All the suffering and all the wait for the rights of the "Most Educated Class of Society" certainly do justify negligence towards duty and patients and providing of poor healthcare towards the ones who cannot visit private hospitals. [Appalled at me even expecting that?] Just Collateral damage I assume? Certainly the "Most Educated Class of Society" of Pakistan can not only justify this collateral damage but inflict it, The other collateral damage is being inflicted by the someone not even part of this society or even to the claims to be "the most educated". How very educated of the "Most Educated Class of Society"? Perhaps because they spend all their time being educated about the anatomy and the physiology of humans, and never having the time or the priority to be be human beings.

i think we all pakistani doctors should leave our jobs just on the basis that we dont get enough money and let the patients suffer and die.we will win and the poor will loose life.Ironically ,for doctors now money matters the most.one can lament only ...........................

Some of the demands are genuine while others are utterly retarded. It is not up to the government to provide jobs to a graduate (through commissions or whatever). I know every parent in Pakistan pushes their child to become a doctor, but that does not mean that the state should be responsible to provide jobs, if the state cant afford to hire graduate it shouldn't. Doctors are already paid higher then others in the same BPS level, and this continues throughout their entire service. As for the demand of security, that should definitely be provided to doctors, and security must be available at every hospital to protect the entire hospital administration.

This is a rubbish thought we should not follow those persons who are not cared about humanity trust on God not money if you think that you have inferior salaries then see just once toward a road labour or vendor who just earn to feed his children hardly else if you are not satisfied with your present salaries from Govt.then see those who are jobless

being a young dr.i suffer the most.i perform max.duty.and get least facilitated.my association never wants to go on strike.but the ruthless attitude of punjab govt.has made me and my many other colleagues to go on strike.in pakistan you have to come on roads and get punished for your basic rights,thats what,we the creamm of the nation had to do.and we will not step back IN SHAA ALLAH until and unless all our demands are met with.

V work nd v earn V only private practice as v r not being paid much in govt sector. If u earn enough from a single job then y u need to do a secnd one. V r also human v hav families to supprot. V work 12 hrs a day to run our family. And how easily u r saying that Drs also do Private practice Shame on u man V spend our whole life on studing. No entertainment for us no holidays evn of festivals like eid while whole nation njoy. These r we the so called cream of d nation. Its so pathetic. its a strike for the basic rights of the doctors so engineers should think its not against them.... wake up youth if you cannot help us then you don't have the right tp take it personaaly............... wake up plz or rather you will be also a victim tomorrow....................... one more thing all patients are entertained in the emergency wards........ we are there to protect peoples' lives.................

I am not a doctor but i just wonder at the audacity of all these people coming here and directing their patronizing spiels at the doctors as if they know better.... of course doctors have problems as does many other professions in pakistan and they have all the right to protest.

Impossible for people to understand who have not worked in a govt. hospital. Issues have come up too late. Doctors should have brought up all their issues long ago. I think still there should be more of an agenda to bring up all the issues one by one. Problems of doctors are so many that whoever you talk with will come up with many new things. I remember that like this person is saying there weren't any openings in punjab for 8 years at one time. And this is common practice.

I wish that all of you be sacked as the sufferers are poor people and not the elite. The salary of Drs has increased quite a bit in last few years. They did not have to ask for raise when a dictator is in power.

These Doctors never consider their moral obligation to have people lives. First of all I don't consider Pakistani Doctors good as I have witnessed many unprofessional practices of Pakistani Doctors. In fact my family is a victim of Pakistani Doctors ignorance and unprofessional practices. Doctors and Teachers are considered noble professions and with these kind of people who are willing to let people die for the sake of their own good aren't qualified to be doctors. Medical Association of Pakistan should take strict action against all these doctors who are on strike and Chief Justice should take suo motto notice and charge these doctors with murder for people who died due to their negligence.

A.O. Media didn't show unjustice to doctors.A doctor has no facilities in this country even he is unable to support his family. Having no facility of accomidation of family and health facilities even though he is doctor. Every one has right to achieve his service structure.

SO I think all doctors should leave their jobs and go abroad and drive taxis there because that's what your worth is in most of the countries. Improperly trained with no moral and professional values earning already more than the average person with 16-18 years of education probably more than Phds in Pakistan and still crying like babies to get more out of the country which already subsidizes your education. BTW the most educated person does not mean the most reasonable and sensible person and I don’t know how the hell a MBBS makes a person most educated. Finding excuses for all the problems and issues is the bigger then the problem of corruption in Pakistan, if you have guts and you are really educated people then raise your game – do some hard work, train your generations for nominal fee or free, give something back to the society, treat the poor for free and suck the blood out of rich, go do some state of the art research and bring some business through the good name of your profession BUT HEY NO NO – WE ARE THE MOST EDUCATED PEOPLE OF THIS SOCIETY – we are not to work hard and think out of the box but to cry and make excuses to get easy money and RESPECT that you don’t deserve.

How much you are offered in private hospitals. Everyone is paid less but the amount of money spend on doctors in enermous. I am an engineer and only have job, while doctors do their practice also. Grow up!

being a young doctor i m in favour of young doctors' strike its our legal right beacause needs matter most...and this is not just a strike of young doctors but consultants shud also participate in this strike...go for it...

yda is not only young drs body it is representing all drs from country , we need not only aceeptance of our demands but also for beter patient care as well. budge should be allocated to all hospitals departmental heads and than an than there will be correct utilization . can u do that

YDA a bunch of gold diggers, shameless mafia, i really dont get it, YOU so called Doctors( read butchers, gold diggers ) dont like the government jobs, its simple, resign from the job, and go about your business, like you people are making a fuss as if, government has chained you to this job, its a piece of paper friends, resign, and get over this superiority complex ok, and stop saying we work this many hours, and WE are the cream of the society, if you became doctors na, it was OUR tax payers money, which paid for your tution, or esle i would have seen how many of you have the financial backbone to afford such education ok.

Punjab government certainly is no where close to perfect. I am not defending them , and certainly doctors have to right to seek improvement in ways appropriate ethically and morally. However I would like to clarify this misconception. Kindly spend some online and Google the benefits of infrastructure development. Apart from the economic benefits and poverty reduction just consider a case relevant to healthcare. Imagine a patient needing life saving healthcare stuck either in an ambulance or an ambulance unable to reach the patient in time due to poor infrastructure, (No roads/traffic jams )?

Sorry , it wasn't about serving humanity. It is about gaining the work experience and moving on. We haven't yet developed that spirit , that we would work selflessly for humanity. This nation is still in the process of evolving.

I wonder what makes these young doctors think that they are the cream of the country.Please don't blow your own trumpet. There are many similar jobless doctors in the country waiting on the wing. They can easily fill in your gaps if given half a chance.

Doctors are not able to support a family. By which standards ? Using that logic who can support a family ?
