LAHORE, July 3: The Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf has urged the protesting doctors to join their duties as the party is ready to court arrest for their cause.

At a joint press conference here on Wednesday, PTI Lahore chapter president Mahmoodur Rashid, Ras Murad and others said if the young doctors called off their strike in response to the party’s appeal, it would go to any extent, including court arrests, for the acceptance of their just demands.

They also urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to give up his stubbornness and hold direct talks with the striking doctors as being demanded by the latter.

They said calling in army medical corps was a failure on the part of the provincial government and recalled that the previous PML-N government had in 1990’s involved the army in unearthing ghost schools and then what happened was a well-known fact.
