KARACHI, July 3: Karachi Commissioner Roshan Ali Shaikh has directed the authorities concerned to launch a crackdown on the preparation and sale of firecrackers in the city.

He issued instructions to this effect to deputy commissioners of all five districts in the city, said a statement issued on Tuesday.

He said that under Section 144 of the criminal procedure code, the ban on preparation and sale of firecrackers would be ensured for 15 days.

He said that the manufacturing of firecrackers would be eliminated and action would be taken against those involved in the trade.—APP
