LONDON, June 28: Pakistan’s top tennis player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi sailed into the second round of the men’s doubles at the Wimbledon Championships along with his Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer after they defeated the British pairing of Josh Goodall and James Ward 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday.

The Pakistan and Dutch duo combined for 13 aces and 19 winners in a solid performance. Their second-round opponents on Friday will be Bobby Reynolds and Izak van der Merwe after the American-South African duo overcame the Italian pair of Flavio Cipolla and Fabio Fognini 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 on Thursday.—Agencies
