LAHORE, June 27: The Academic Group and the Academic Forum have jointly filed 17 nomination papers for the Punjab University Senate elections against 15 seats, reserved for university teachers. The Teachers Front, a pro-administration group, has filed 18 nominations.

The list of 35 candidates was put up on the notice board by the PU Registrar/returning officer on Wednesday.

As many as 555 faculty members – 71 professors, 45 associate professors, 212 assistant professors and 227 lecturers – are on electoral rolls.

The list of candidates after scrutiny of nomination papers will be displayed on June 29. The eligible candidates can withdraw from contesting election till July 2 and the final list of candidates will be displayed on July 4.

The polling will be held at Waheed Shaheed Hall, Institute of Education and Research, from 9am to 4:30pm with a break from 1pm to 2:30pm on July 6.

NOTIFICATION: The Punjab University, in pursuance to the decision of the Lahore High Court on June 7, has allowed LLB Part-I students session 2011-12 to attempt the paper of “Language Skills” either with LLB Part-I or with LLB Part-II examinations.

The PU says this concession is available only to the students of current session, LLB Part-I annual examinations for 2012.

RESULTS: The PU on Wednesday declared the results of MSc Tourism and Hotel Management (morning), semester system, session 2008-10, MSc Business Statistics and Management (semester system), session 2009-11, MSc Applied Hydrology (morning), semester system, session 2009-11 and MSc Actuarial Science (semester system), session 2009-11.
