EASTBOURNE (England), June 20: The three leading women’s seeds and men’s top seed Richard Gasquet were toppled in short order on Tuesday at the Eastbourne International grass-court event with Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova leading the exit.
The Czech, seeded second, was joined on the sidelines by top seed Agnieszka Radwanska and No 3 Caroline Wozniacki. Radwanska lost to Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova 6-2, 6-4 while former number one Wozniacki fell to American Christina McHale 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
Men’s top seed Gasquet joined the day’s upset list as the Frenchman lost to Australian Marinko Matosevic 1-6, 7-6, 7-6 after two and a half hours and 13 aces.

CLIJSTERS IN LAST EIGHT
DEN BOSCH (Netherlands): Kim Clijsters advanced to the Den Bosch Open quarter-finals with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kateryna Bondarenko on Tuesday.
The win on grass a week ahead of Wimbledon was just Clijsters’ second since returning from a three-month hip injury. She lost the opening set to Romina Oprandi on Sunday and struggled in the second before taking control of that match.
Among the men, top seed David Ferrer of Spain beat Pierre-Ludovic Duclos of Canada 6-4, 6-4 in a first-round match.
