TAXILA, June 16: The students of Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (HITEC) won laurels on Saturday in swimming gala 2012 by participating in different events at the sports complex.

The students of different houses participated in 100-metre freestyle, 50-metre backstroke, 25-metre backstroke, 50-metre breaststroke and water polo match. The 100-metre freestyle race title was clinched by Hamza Altaf of Saad House while Mujebur Rehman was the runner-up. In 50-metre backstroke competition, Umair Rehmat of Saad House stood first while Ali Akram of Hamza House got second position. In 25-metre backstroke competition, Danish Malik won the title while Bilal Haider clinched second position. In 50-metre breaststroke Ahmed Ayaz bagged first position while Usman Mussarat secured second position. The water polo match was won by Hamza House. The swimming gala 2012 title was lifted by Hamza House by getting the highest points in individual and team competitions.

Director Sports HITEC Major (retired) Manzoor Qadir Rana said such competition not only improved the physical health of the students but also created spirit of competition among them.
