THIS is apropos of my letter ‘Special people: an appeal’ (April 20). I received a reply from the State Bank of Pakistan to my plea for recruitment as an executive engineer.
According to the State Bank, the Disabled Persons (Employment and Rehabilitation) Ordinance does not provide relaxation in entry requirement. Also, it is required to maintain two per cent strength in the whole organisation.
It means they will like to induct special people into inferior grades (non- clerical) and doors on direct recruitment on higher grades are closed on us.
I would like to ask the authorities concerned what percentage of special people do they have in the higher management?
If these relaxations are not available to the special people, what relief do we have in the disability act?
