RAWALPINDI, Dec 13: The teachers would resume their duties in all the local educational institutions from Saturday after the Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Ellahi suspended the proposed plan of introduction of boards of governors (BOGs) in the educational institutions on Friday.

President of Punjab Professors and Lecturers Association (PPLA) Mohammad Ilyas Qureshi said this while talking to Dawn on Friday.

Mr Qureshi said the Punjab chief minister during a meeting with an eight-member delegation of teachers and students in Lahore on Friday suspended the proposed plan and directed formation of a committee that would present its report to the chief minister within 15 days.

The committee, which would be presided by justice Ghulam Mujaddid Mirza, would comprise Prof Nazim Hasnain, Prof Zaheerud Din and two MPAs. Mr Qureshi further said that for the first time the teachers got an opportunity to apprise the policy-makers of their grievances and the fallout of the BoGs plan in the educational institutions. He said the teachers would defend the interests of the educational institutions and the students.— Our Reporter
