Teachers get Rs500 raise

TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 13: The district government announced on Friday a raise of Rs500 in the salary of 1,000 temporary teachers of schools and colleges.

An official said primary teachers would now get Rs1,500 per month instead of Rs1,000, EST teachers Rs2,000 instead of Rs1,500 while high school teachers and lecturers of colleges would be given Rs2,500 instead of Rs2,000 per month.

LAND DISPUTE: A dozen people shot dead a man and injured his uncle over a land dispute in Chak 660-GB near Pirmahal on Thursday.

Chadhars had sold 28 acres to Liaquat in 1986 when the former’s family members were in jail. The family illegally occupied the land when their men were released in 1996. Liaquat moved the court to get back the land possession. Amar and 12 accomplices opened fire on Liaquat and his uncle. The injured were taken to hospital where Liaquat died. — Correspondent
