THIS is apropos of the news item ‘Philanthropist installs water filtration plant’ (May 26). Such acts of philanthropy can be a source of inspiration for many people in society.

As the anonymous businessman/philanthropist rightly pointed out, we can help others in need even if we are not rich, for example, by helping the old people to cross roads.

Also, it is good to know that, although he did not get a good response from people he had contacted to join him in this noble venture, he went ahead with his plan, and the lack of support did not hinder his generosity.
