LAHORE, June 9: The Punjab government has allocated Rs11 billion for the construction of Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) being implemented in the city.

The Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) has almost completed the first phase by constructing dedicated lane in the middle of Ferozepur Road on a stretch of around 10kms between Kahna and Kalma Chowk and launched work on the next phase from Kalma Chowk to Mozang Chungi.

The BRTS project will have assistance of the Turkish engineers in near future. The Lahore Transport Company has been entrusted with the task of getting the buses operated on the dedicated lane.

Moreover, the government has allocated Rs2 billion for construction of the remaining portions of Lahore Ring Road. A sum of Rs6.2 billion has also been allocated for transport department to launch various schemes under the Annual Development Programme.
