CHARSADDA, June 8: The activists of All Government Employees Coordination Council organised a hunger strike camp on Friday to seek raise in salaries and allowances.

Local leaders and representatives of employees of various government departments participated in the hunger strike camp.

The protesters said that the government should fulfill its promise with the employees that the 65 per cent ad hoc relief would be included in the basic pay. They said that the government should increase the medical and other allowances of the employees.Leaders of ANP, PPP-S, JUI-F and representatives of traders’ organisations visited the hunger strike camp and expressed solidarity with the government employees.

SWABI: The workers of All Government Employees Coordination Council (AGECC) held a hunger strike against the ad hoc relief announced by the government for the public sector employees in the federal budget. They criticised the government for failing to implement the recommendations of the pay and pension committee.

Led by its district president Abdul Latif and chairman Abdul Hakim the workers of the council gathered in Karnal Sher Khan Chowk where they held the hunger strike.

Mr Latif told this correspondent the ad hoc relief was too small if compared with the increasing prices of the essential commodities. He said the government should provide uniform pay scale to the employees of all the departments. Mr Hakim threatened that if the ad hoc relief was not merged in the basic salary of the employees they would continue their strike. — Dawn Report
