RAWALPINDI, June 4: Another woman committed suicide here on Monday, police said.

This is the second suicide case reported in Rawalpindi during the last 36 hours after a housemaid killed herself by hanging at her employer’s house in Morgah area.

In Monday’s incident, Farhat Naz 35, a graduate whose marriage was scheduled next week, hanged herself with a rope tied to the ceiling fan of her room in her Railway Colony house in the afternoon.

“She was quite happy before going to her bedroom after completing her household chores,” police said quoting her brothers.

Farhat went to her room and locked it from inside before ending her life. The family came to know of the tragedy when she did not open the door despite repeated knocking.

The door was then broken and Farhat, daughter of retired official of Pakistan Railways, was found hanging and a chair she had used to climb was found lying beside her bed. A suicide note was also found lying nearby.

SI Munawar Khan, who is leading the investigation, revealed that the hand-written note said: “I am killing myself willingly and nobody else is responsible for it. I should be buried within one-hour after my death and prayers should be offered for my soul.”

Police said she had four brothers who lived with her in the same house. They recorded their statements separately with the police saying that there was nothing wrong with their sister that could have made her end her life. —Staff Reporter
