LAHORE, June 1: A design committee, headed by District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal, on Friday granted a conditional approval for the construction of three commercial buildings in the city.

The committee had received six applications to review, discuss and grant approval for the construction of commercial buildings in various parts of the provincial metropolis.

Granting approval, the DCO said the applicants should allocate maximum space for parking according to buildings’ design and map. The allocation of pace for parking should be doubled in commercial buildings so that maximum parking facility could be provided to visitors.

He directed the officials concerned to put up the cases of only those applicants to the design committee who would provide a sufficient parking facility.

The cases of three commercial buildings approved by the committee included an auto workshop, a three-storey commercial building in Shalamar Town near Link Road and one building on The Mall.

The committee deferred the cases of three buildings in Data Ganj Bakhsh and Allama Iqbal towns till the next meeting.

SHEESHA: Special monitoring teams of various towns sealed six sheesha cafes in the city during a crackdown on Friday.

The cafes sealed are Hot Box, Jazz Café, Pizza Point, Safari Lounge, Boogie Lounge Café and Yari Café situated in Faisal Town, Model Town, Gulberg and Gulshan Ravi.

ACTION: In a campaign against illegal slaughter of animals in the city, teams of the district livestock department got registered 12 cases against butchers at different police stations on Friday besides imposing a fine of Rs5,000 on butchers.

The teams also disposed of 80 kilo unhygienic meat.

AUCTION: The Lahore Development Authority will hold an auction of six public utility sites for setting up schools in various private housing schemes, 15 residential plots in Sabzazar and 19 commercial plots in Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Mustafa Town and other LDA schemes on June 20.

The auction will be held at LDA Community Centre, 239-A, New Muslim Town.
