ISLAMABAD, May 28: Davis Cupper Asim Shafiq, Talha Zubair, Raja Shahid, Saif Ali, Abid Ali, Shahid Afridi, Hasnain Manzoor and Taimur Mahmood reached the main round of the Vigo Champ Subh-e-Nau National tennis championship at the Islamabad Club on Monday.

The first round of the men’s singles category will be played on Tuesday with top seeds expected to be seen in action.

In the boys U-18 contest, M. Mudassar started his journey on a winning note by going past Nouman Ahmed in style.

Mudassar thrashed his opponent in straight sets.

Shahroz Rohail, M. Muzammil, Haseeb Yaqoob, Rashid Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Nofil Kaleem, Kashan-ul-Haq, Salman bin Saleem and Nouman Khan also qualified for the second round of this category.
