SWABI, May 26: Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan (AJIP) on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the Awami National Party-led provincial government for ignoring development of Swabi district.

The protesters also blocked Swabi-Mardan Road for about two hours and chanting slogans against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The AJIP workers were led by MNA Usman Khan Tarakai, MPA Javed Khan Tarakai and Shahram Khan Tarakai.

Speaking on the occasion, they said that the provincial government had failed to resolve problems of the people.

Mr Usman claimed that people of the district had rendered sacrifices for the construction of Tarbela Dam and Ghazi Barotha hydro-project, but they had been facing prolonged loadshedding.

Mr Javed alleged that the ANP leaders were involved in massive corruption, which was the reason for their failure to resolve people’s problems.  He said that the government had also failed to provide protection to life and property of the people. Mr Shahram said that the rulers should step down if they could not solve problems of the people. He said that people would reject the present rulers in the upcoming election.
