MUZAFFARGARH, May 26: On the orders of the Punjab chief secretary, union council secretary, revenue patwari, tehsildar, agriculture and water management officials, education, police and monitoring teams will participate in polio campaign from first week of June.

This was stated by District Coordination Officer Tahir Khursheed here after meeting with officials of departments.

Police teams will take part in polio campaign here in Muzaffargarh district because during the previous drive parents of more than 100 children had refused vaccination. In Jatoi Tehsil, 34 people, Alipur 21, Muzaffargarh 36 and Kot Addu 51 had refused vaccination.

The DCO said now these departments along with police teams would participate in the polio campaign.

Sources said last week the chief secretary had held a meeting in Multan and called all DCOs, tasking them with ensuring 99 per cent vaccination in all areas.Executive District Officer (Health) Dr Ashiq Husain said before the start of polio campaign, the health department would hold meetings with religious leaders for an effective campaign.

The DCO said: “There are 93 union councils here in Muzaffargarh district. Negligent officials will face action. Each team has been asked to send report on polio campaign on a daily basis.
