RAWALPINDI, May 25: A Turkish couple suspected of having links with Al Qaeda and wanted by Turkey was arrested and deported along with their child on Friday, sources said.

Volkin Umair, his wife Zingin Hummvee and their child, whose name could not be ascertained, were taken to the Benazir Bhutto International Airport by security officials in the morning for deportation. The deputy chief of the Turkish mission was with them.

The sources said that two police officials had arrived from Turkey to take the couple back to their country.

The three were handed over to the Turkish officials who took them to the Turkish Airline’s flight TK-711 where they were handcuffed before the plane took off, they said.
