KARACHI: Chief coach of Pakistan softball team, Asif Azeem said on Wednesday that the upcoming Asia Cup in India and the men’s Softball Asian Championship in Japan will give tremendous exposure and experience to the national players besides helping them in improving their techniques.

Talking to the media, Asif said the trials for the selection of the two international softball tournaments will be held in Karachi after the National Men’s Softball event in Gujranwala from May 27-30.

“The national championship in Gujranwala will see teams from all the four provinces as well as Army, Police and Federal capital competing which will help us mark out the outstanding players and select them for the camp,” he said.

Asif added that in the upcoming Asia Cup, Pakistan softball players will be rubbing shoulders with strong teams from India, Iran and Iraq which will be a great experience for them.

In the end, he thanked the International Softball Federation for its outstanding support to Pakistan and for providing opportunities to compete in top-level events.

The website of Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) is also getting quite popular with the younger players these days and SFP will be organising festival matches in major cities of the country on June 13 to mark the World Softball Day.—Agencies
