Security arrangements

ATTOCK, May 22:  Over 1,500 police officials have been deputed for the security of PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif during his visit to the city today (Wednesday).

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of DPO Mohammad Hilal Khan to finalise the security arrangements.

PML-N chief will address a public meeting at Liaquat Ali Khan Shaheed Hockey Stadium.

Police force and personnel of other law enforcement agencies including elite force, special branch, Punjab Constabulary, counter-terrorism department and lady constables were also called out for the security, police sources said. — Correspondent

Imposter caught

TAXILA, May 22:  An imposter, who had swindled millions of rupees from many people by posing himself as an official of a sensitive secret agency, was arrested.

Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Hassanabdal circle Nadeem Shahzad Bokhari said this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday. He said that Sajjad Hussain, the resident of village Daswaish, Haripur looted two persons Mohammad Adeel, a religious teacher, resident of Islamgarh and Dr Shoukat of Hassanabdal. He also deprived many people in Rawalpindi, Attock and Haripur of over 100 tola gold.

On the complaint of the victims, he said, a team headed by Sub Inspector Mohammad Irfan was formed which traced the accused and arrested him.

He said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to over two-dozen crimes. — Correspondent

Criminals held

ISLAMABAD, May 22: The capital police on Tuesday arrested five outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered narcotics and weapons from them, a police spokesman said.

On a tip-off, the Aabpara police arrested a drug peddler after recovering 1.1kg hashish from him.

Similarly, the Ramna police station also recovered 1.3kg hashish and arrested its carrier.

Likewise, the Shahzad Town police on suspicion intercepted a man and during his search recovered a 30-bore pistol. Moreover, the Sihala police also recovered two 30-bore pistols separately from different persons which led to their arrest.

Separate cases were registered against the arrestees and further investigations were in progress. — Staff Reporter
