Plan to attract expats investment

ISLAMABAD, Nov 20: The Board of Investment (BOI) has initiated various steps to attract private sector’s investment and generate economic activity.

In this respect, the BOI has recently compiled a compendium of investment opportunities for overseas Pakistanis. It contains investment opportunities and incentives offered to them in various sectors.

According to official sources, this compendium, developed by BOI, gives an idea about projects available for investment.

Pakistan offers numerous opportunities for investment in all sectors of the economy including oil & gas, agriculture, infrastructure and information technology.

The present government is keen to reach Overseas Pakistanis and offer them an investment-friendly climate and all the assistance, which can help in making a prudent decision to invest in this country, the sources observed.

The major reason for investing in Pakistan for any Overseas Pakistani, the sources viewed, should be that it is the market they know best. They are also equipped to manage the human resources available in this country because of their social and cultural understanding of Pakistan.

A close look at some of the leading companies shows that in the last few years their average return on equity has been in the range between 14 to 62 per cent, the sources said, adding, the success of these companies is ample proof that Pakistan is the right place to invest.

“Investing in Pakistan means positioning your business in a geographically strategic location to target market opportunities offering many advantages for growth and development,” the sources observed.

According to the sources, there are over 3.5m Pakistani expatriates living and working in countries spread across the globe.—APP
