MINGORA, May 9: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hassan said here on Wednesday that Yousuf Raza Gilani was a former prime minister as he had created conflict between the state institutions by ridiculing the judiciary.
Addressing a public gathering at Grassy Ground, he criticised Mr Gilani for not implementing the order of the apex court. He said that they would defeat the corrupt rulers with the help of ballot instead of bullet.
Mr Hassan said that they would not allow restoration of Nato supplies to Afghanistan via Pakistan. America wanted to make the entire Pakistan a Salala post by killing innocent people, he said. The JI chief said that they would use all options to frustrate American designs.
JI deputy chief Sirajul Haq, provincial chief Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, provincial deputy chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, general secretary Shabir Ahmed Khan, district chief Mohammad Amin and former MNA Dr Fazal Subhan also spoke on the occasion.
The public meeting was held amid tight security as more than 300 policemen were deployed at the venue. Four walkthrough gates were set up for entry of participants to avert any eventuality.
“We salute the Afghan Taliban and Afghan nation for inflicting a humiliated defeat on the America-led Nato forces,” Mr Hassan said. He blamed Mutahidda Qaumi Movement for Karachi killings, saying Pakistan People’s Party was acting as a silent spectator despite having majority in Sindh.
Mr Hassan said the American government could not produce solid proof of the killing of Osma bin Laden. He also lauded the people of Swat for rendering sacrifices for establishment of rule of law.
The JI chief said that Swat operation was started to root out militancy. But, he added, instead of uprooting militancy the operation reached GHQ. He said that use of force was no solution to any problem. Negotiation was the only solution to all problems, he added.—Correspondent
