LRC stewards election

LAHORE, Dec 10: Twenty-two members of the Lahore Race Club (LRC) have filed nomination papers for the election of the club’s ten stewards to be held on Dec 21.

The candidates are: Syed Fakhar Imam, Syed Wajid Ali Shah, Arbab Nur Muhammad Khan, Malik Hamid Ali Noon, Brig (retd:) Ihjaz Hussein, Sheikh Sajjad Hassan, Mir Ikram Mahmood, Syed Pervaiz Hussain Shah, Malik Ghulam Nabi, Muhammad Nawaz Tiwana, Tariq Aziz, Khalid Mahmood, Munir Ahmad Dar, Maj (retd:) Muhammad Sharif, Mian Abdul Waheed, Khawaja Muhammad Arif, Lt.Gen (retd:) Shah Rafi Alam, Maj. Gen (retd:) M. Shafiq Ahmad, Maj. Gen (retd:) Saeed-uz-Zaman Janjua, Syed Sajjad Haider Shah, Abdul Qadir Mamdot and Lt. Col (retd:) Masood Pervaiz.

The members are divided in groups and a sizable one is in favour of bringing a change in the existing panel. Will they be able to seek majority support or come to a compromise, is a big question mark? The LRC has a tradition of holding the election unanimously.—A.G.
