ISLAMABAD, May 8: A gang of robbers looted Rs3.5 million from a bank branch on Tuesday, police said.

The sources said that a nine-member gang of robbers raided the UBL Tarnol Brach at Fathejhang Road. Five robbers armed with weapons entered the bank and held the staff and customers hostage on gunpoint while the other four remained outside to provide cover to their accomplices.

The robbers overpowered the two guards and snatched their guns. Later, they looted the cash from cash counter and escaped in a taxi and a motorcycle from the spot.

On information, the police reached there and collected the evidence. The police officials recorded the statements of the victims and made sketches of the robbers with their help.

The investigators were told that the robbers seemed to be Pashton and Punjabi.
