KARACHI, Dec 10: A jobless young man allegedly committed suicide in his house in Buffer Zone on Tuesday morning.

Police said Nadeem, aged 30, slit his throat after he had arguments with his family members. He was rushed to a private hospital from where he was referred to nearby Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. He died from profuse bleeding.

Police said the young man had been jobless for the past many months.

CARJACKING: Twenty vehicles — eight cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Three cars were hijacked. Five others were stolen.

Four motorcycles were hijacked. Eight others were stolen.

ROBBERIES: Three robberies were committed in the city on Tuesday, police said.

Armed men barged into a bungalow in Defence Phase-IV and got away with cash, gold and saving certificates. Police said armed men entered a bungalow (C-38) in Gizri police limits and robbed Mr Hanif and his family of cash and valuables.

Bandits barged into Husain Ali’s house in Baldia, held the occupants of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted valuables.

Two bandits, riding on a motorcycle, robbed a young man of a mobile phone and cash at gunpoint in Saddar.

SHOT DEAD: A young man was shot dead in Federal B Area late Monday night.

Police said Humayun Sharif, aged 35, was shot dead by unknown men at Super Arcade in Block-9, Joharabad. He was riding on a motorcycle when he was fired upon. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Police said Humayun was booked in a motorcycle theft case at North Nazimabad police station in 1997.

ACCIDENT: A young man died in a road accident on National Highway late Monday night.

Police said a pedestrian, identified as Ghulam Shabbir, aged 35, was walking across the main National Highway near Saudabad when he was run over by a speeding minibus (JE-1291) of route W-18.

He was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police claimed to have arrested the bus driver and impounded the vehicle.

DROWNED: A small boy died when he fell into a stormwater drain in Federal B Area on Tuesday evening.

Police said three-year-old Asif was following his mother when he slipped into a stormwater drain near KBR Society, Sindh Baloch Colony.

He was taken out of the drain and rushed to a hospital where he died.
