RAWALPINDI, May 4: Five persons were injured when a boiler exploded in a house at Westridge Friday night.

Sohail Ahmed, a resident of the National Telecommunication Company (NTC) Colony, said the incident occurred in the house of his neighbour Khan Afsar where two plumbers were fixing the boiler.

Besides the plumbers, Afsar, Hassan Ahmed, 12, and his sister Khairunnisa, 10, were also injured. The house was also damaged in the explosion.

Meanwhile, a man was beaten to death in Saddar Bairooni police area on Thursday night.

Mohammad Nazir told police that a boy came to his house and informed him that his brother Rashid, who was mentally disturbed was being beaten by some people. He said he rushed to the spot and found some men beating his brother with bricks. The injured was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died.— Staff Reporter
