Girl ‘commits suicide’

MURREE, April 22: A 20-year-old girl committed suicide, police and Rescue 1122 sources quoted parents as claiming.

Adeela Bibi daughter of Ghulam Sarwar, a resident of Ratti Gali near Murree, committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope in the washroom of her house.

A Rescue 1122 team reached the spot when parents informed the service and shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital. Police have registered a case and said investigation will be carried out to verify the real cause of her death.— Correspondent

Man suffers burns

RAWALPINDI, April 22: A man suffered burn injuries after his uncle doused him with petrol and set his alight in Ganjmandi area, police said on Sunday.

Mohammad Asad and his uncle Mohammad Nasir lived in the same house and used to quarrel with each other over petty issues. On Sunday they had a brawl again and while they were quarrelling, Nasir doused his nephew with petrol and showed a match stick. On hearing his screams, the neighbours rushed to the house and extinguished the flames.

Asad, who suffered 30 per cent burns, was shifted to the hospital where his condition is stated to be stable. — Staff Reporter

Earth Day walk held

MURREE, April 22: In connection with the international Earth Day, Rescue 1122 in collaboration with NGOs held a walk on The Mall in Murree.

A large number of people participated in it. The walk started from GPO Chowk and continued till Marhaba Chowk and then returning back to the starting point.

The objective of the walk was to create awareness among locals and tourists about the importance of Earth, its cleanliness and protection besides the need for planting trees, preserving natural soil and environment, wild life and making it a better place to live.— Correspondent
