LAHORE, April 18: The Punjab chapter of Medical Teachers Association has decided not to attend patients at OPDs unless they are provided proper security against the protesting young doctors.
The MTA Punjab took this decision in its general body meeting at the Allama Iqbal Medical College on Wednesday.
Presided over by Prof Dr Azim Jahangir Khan, the meeting expressed its displeasure at the mode of young doctors’ protest and health authorities’ response to it.
Prof Dr Saad Bashir Malik, Prof Dr Arif Siddiqui, Prof Dr Arif Tajammul, Prof Umatul Zareen, Prof Riffat Butt, Dr Ziaullah Bajwa and Dr Tehseen Riaz were also present.
The meeting said MTA would not become part of the strike. It, however, said the government should consult senior doctors to resolve the issue. It demanded implementation of the autonomy act to strengthen the teaching institutions.—Staff Reporter
