LAHORE, April 14: An army man has been nabbed for possessing illegal arms and ammunition while travelling by a train.

A railways police spokesman said on Saturday the accused boarded Khyber Mail at Nowshera station for Kharian Cantonment.

Noticing his suspicious behaviour, the railway police personnel asked for his identification to which the accused introduced himself as Ali Nawaz, son of Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Mirpur Khas, now posted as a sepoy at Kharian Cantt.

During search of his luggage, one 9MM, one machinegun-type and two 30-bore pistols, along with 110 cartridges, were recovered.

The accused could not produce any document to justify possession of the recovered items.

A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way. — Staff Reporter
