SINGAPORE: Pakistan State Oil (PSO) is seeking more than one million tonnes of oil products for May-June delivery, 850,000 tonnes of which are for fuel oil, tender details on its website showed on Tuesday.

The state-owned company is looking to import 650,000 tonnes of high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), 200,000 tonnes of low-sulphur fuel oil (LSFO), 210,000 tonnes of 87-octane gasoline and 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel.

In May alone, two 65,000-tonne lots of HSFO and 35,000 tonnes of gasoline are required for May 18-31 delivery, 50,000 tonnes of LSFO between May 20-31 and 25,000 tonnes of jet fuel for anytime during the month.

Three 35,000-tonne parcels of gasoline and 25,000 tonnes of jet fuel are to be delivered in June.

The remaining eight 65,000-tonne cargos of HSFO, 50,000 tonnes of LSFO and two 35,000-tonne parcels of gasoline are to land between June to July.

Bids are to be made on a cost-and-freight (C&F) basis to Karachi, with the tender closing on April 27 and remaining valid till May 5.

The latest tender comes on top of the 650,000 tonnes of fuel oil PSO has already bought for its second quarter in March, though the company had refrained from LSFO buys then.

Fuel oil is used for power generation in Pakistan, with demand expected to peak during summer.

PSO had also bought 140,000 tonnes of gasoline and at least 50,000 tonnes of jet fuel for April-May delivery.
