Nadia Khan is back, not with as big a bang as you might have expected though. Last week, after a hiatus of two years, perhaps the most known chat show host did the curtain-raiser to her presumably rejuvenated programme. She invited a long lineup of celebrity guests on the show to talk about her talent and how important it was for her to return to television. The guests included Sarmad Khoosat (who appears to have an opinion on everything after the success of Hamsafar), Kamiar Rokni, Resham, Nadia Jamil, Shahida Mini, Sabina Pasha, Omar Adil and Bunty (forgive me if I’ve missed out on someone really important, there were many singing praises for Nadia K). For reasons best known to the host, for a major chunk of the curtain-raiser Nadia K spoke about how inane, meaningless and uninformed morning shows had become. This implied that her show was, and will be, ever so different—meaningful and well-researched.

Hello! If we’re not mistaken, who started it all? Madam ji, you are the one who kicked off the morning show baloney. As far as we remember, the ‘happy-to-you’ bit on your show didn’t contain any intellectual content. Still, we hope this time round you do make a difference. —PYT
