KARACHI: Teachers again criticize MUO

Published December 6, 2002

KARACHI, Dec 5: Referring to a recent statement of President General Pervez Musharraf, senior office-bearers of the Federation of All-Pakistan University Academic Staff Association has said teachers and students have not been consulted on the issue of the Model University Ordinance (MUO).

“It is entirely wrong to claim that the MUO would arrest the declining standard of education at the university level. Rather it would deny the common man access to higher education,” they added.

The president, Sarwar Naseem, and the secretary, Dr Riaz Ahmed, of the Federation said teachers were all for reforms but they should not be imposed from above.
