
RAWALPINDI: Karachi Dolphins became the first finalists of the domestic Super Eight Twety20 tournament, when they beat Lahore Lions by seven wickets at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Right-handed opening batsman Shahzaib Hassan’s swashbuckling innings of 57 runs made short work of the 168-run target set by Lahore.
Shahzaib, who hit six fours and four towering sixes, was declared man of the match.
Electing to bat, Lahore Lions amassed 167 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 0vers. Kashif Siddiq was the main contributor as he scored 48 runs followed by Nasir Jamshad (36), Raza Ali Dar (22), Kamran Akmal (16) and Umar Akmal (13).
For Dolphins, Tanvir Ahmed and Faraz Ahmed bagged two wickets each giving 38 and 37 runs respectively.
In reply, Karachi Dolphins, achieved the target in 19 overs. Khalid Latif was also among the runs with his innings of 45 runs that included five fours and a huge six. Asad Shafiq made 22 while Sheharyar Ghani remained unbeaten on 28.
For Lahore Lions, Adnan Rasool bagged two wickets for 26 runs. Left-arm medium pacer Zia-ul-Haq, who had grabbed five wickets in the last match was unable to clinch any wicket in the semi-final and conceded 19 runs in his two overs.
Karachi await the winner of Peshawar Panthers and Sialkot Stallions for the final, which will be played on Sunday.
