KARACHI, March 24: An activist of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) was gunned down near Taj Complex on M.A. Jinnah Road on Saturday in what the party termed a targeted killing.

According to police, men on a motorcycle attacked 36-year-old Tahir Khan when he was going home after seeing an injured activist of his party in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The victim was hit by three bullets.

“He died on the spot and the body has been handed over to the family after medico-legal formalities,” Ghulam Murtaza Malik, the area’s sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), said.

An MQM-H spokesman said the victim was going home after seeing Munawar Khan who had been injured in an armed attack in which a policeman deputed to guard party chief Afaq Ahmed was killed.

“He was a resident of Landhi No 6 but was living in Bahadurabad because of persistent threats to his life. It is barbarism and it is so unfortunate that the government has compromised everything for political gains,” the spokesman said.

CLASH: An armed clash between two groups over a piece of land in Malir on Saturday night left two people dead and four others injured, police said.
