TAXILA, March 22: A man was killed while his wife was shot and injured critically over honour by his in-laws in limits of Hassanabdal police station on Thursday.

Investigation Officer (IO) Sub Inspector Mohammad Nawaz told newsmen here that Uzma Bibi who belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) eloped with Gulfaraz Khan and contracted marriage with him against the will of her family.

Yasir Khan and Naseer Khan, the woman’s brothers traced them living in a rented house in village Kamra Sharqi, opened indiscriminate fire at them and later fled away from the scene.

Both were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital where Gulfaraz was pronounced dead while Uzma was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital Rawalpindi due to her critical condition.

Body of the deceased was later handed over to the family after autopsy while police registered a case against the nominated accused and started investigation.
