ISLAMABAD: The outgoing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan Justice (retd) Hamid Ali Mirza on Thursday paid a farewell call on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Presidency.
The president appreciated his meritorious services spanning over around four decades in the dispensation of justice and lauded his valuable contributions on the road to making the electoral process transparent and credible.
He noted the first ever five-year Strategic Plan of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during his tenure as an important milestone in further strengthening the electoral process.
Mirza was appointed election commission’s chief on March 17, 2009.
The outgoing CEC thanked the president for the meeting and said that the support of the government, the political parties and other stakeholders was critical in enabling the election commission to discharge its constitutional and legal obligations and strengthening the electoral process in the country.
