PESHAWAR, Sept 30: Afghanistan’s ruling Taliban arrested six persons for distributing pamphlets calling on people in three eastern provinces to rise up in revolt, AIP said on Sunday.

Mullah Abdul Rauf, governor of Khost province, told the agency that the so-called “night letters” said that America was not an enemy and that people should support the return of exiled King Zahir Shah’s return to power in Kabul.

The AIP said the pamphlets were distributed secretly overnight in Gardez, capital Paktia province, and Khost, capital of the province of same name.

“The Ulema have prescribed death as punishment for those who collude with infidels,” Mulla Rauf told the agency.

It would be seen later if the arrested would be hanged, he said.—dpa
