PESHAWAR, Dec 2: The city police have seized four dynamites and four hand-grenades and arrested an alleged terrorist after shootout on Jamrood Road here on Monday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operation), Dr Ishtiaq Marwat, told newsmen at a news conference held at police headquarters here, that the police had prior information about a sabotage plan during Eidul Fitr.

During the road blockade, the police team stopped a passenger wagon for search on Jamrood Road at Board bus stop.

One passenger, Khan Gul, who was coming from the tribal area started arguing with the police, the SSP said.

All of a sudden the accused started to fire at the police. In the process, he ran into a house near the University Model School.

The police gave him a chase ordering him to surrender, Dr Ishtiaq added.

Ignoring the warning, Gul again stated firing and critically injured a constable Abdul Hameed.

But the police succeeded in nabbing him, the SSP maintained.

The police during the search seized four explosives and four hand-grenades from him, Dr Ishtiaq claimed and added he was also wanted in a murder case.

But Gul denied the charges and said that he possessed four indigenous explosive and wanted to browbeat his old rival during Eid.

Gul, who belonged to Bhalu village of Akbarpur, said that his father was killed allegedly by Omar Hayat of the same area in 1982.

He said that he wanted to take revenge of his father’s murder.
