KARACHI, Nov 18: The Nazim Karachi, Naimatullah Khan, has said that price control committees have been formed at Town level to facilitate the general public with the aim of discouraging profiteering and hoarding.

Talking to PPI at the launch of a tree-plantation campaign near Steel Town on Sunday, he said that the decision was taken at a special meeting. These committees would be headed by DDOs who would be given magisterial powers for the month of Ramazan.

The teams, consisting of four price control inspectors, would check stalls and sellers of fruits and vegetables and ensure the display of the official price list at stalls. Mr Khan said that the city government had taken steps to ensure smooth flow of traffic during Ramazan, especially at Iftari time.—PPI
