TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 19: The personnel of Elite Force and city police in a joint operation arrested an alleged dacoit in Gulberg Colony after an encounter on late Saturday, while an accomplice of the outlaw managed to escape.

According to the police, two armed dacoits snatched Rs3,000 and a cell phone from Muhammad Imran, a computer operator of the city police station near railway underpass on Gojra road.

On being informed of the incident, an Elite Force vehicle started chasing the dacoits who took position near the house of Faisalabad deputy prosecutor Mian Sabtain Ahmad.

Meanwhile, a contingent led by city SHO encircled the outlaws who opened fire on police who returned the fire.

After siege of over half an hour, when the outlaws ran short of ammunition, one of them managed to flee the scene while the other was overpowered by police

Police were not sharing the name of the arrested dacoit who was shifted to an undisclosed location according to sources.

The sources said the arrested man was a proclaimed offender of Chak 331 JB, Athwal, and was wanted in different murder cases.
