LAHORE, Dec 1: A last minute goal by striker Aamir who slammed in a penalty shot, enabled Akhtar Abdur Rehman Club to win the final of the 12th Ramazan Republican football tournament, defeating Moghalpura Heroes by a thin margin 2-1 at the DPS ground, Model Town Sunday.

The winners led the first half 1-0.Akhtar Club started the match at a fast pace and gained the lead quickly in the very first minute of play.

Striker Shahid Bhatti scored the spectacular goal after receiving an angular pass from Jameel.

The slim lead remained intact till the breather.

After half time, Moghalpura Heroes managed to muster the draw (1-1) in the 42nd minute when Pervez netted a field goal after dodging three defenders beautifully.

Akhtar Club put lot of pressure and attacked from all sides, missing three good chances to go ahead.

In the last five minutes both teams went on the offensive with Akhtar Club surging ahead from the right side in the 68th minute when Jameel was fouled upon by the rival defenders, for which the referee took no time to award a penalty-kick to Akhtar Club. Aamir converted the penalty easily putting the ball in the left corner which left the goalkeeper guessing.
