Hissam and Taimur share five goals

LAHORE, Dec 1: Three goals by Hissam Ali Hyder and two by Taimur Malik enabled Guard Filter to enter the final of the Ramazan Cup polo tournament defeating Thuraya 5-3 at the Lahore Polo Club ground Sunday.

Guard Filter ran into trouble early in the game, as Thuraya were leading 2-1 at the end of the second chukker.

Hissam gave Guard Filter a quick lead scoring a field goal with a lofted hit in the first chukker.

But Thuraya restored the parity through Raja Sattar who fired a field goal before the end of the chukker.

Sufi Amir scored the solitary goal of the second chukker to put Thuraya ahead.

He converted the spot penalty hit near the goalpost to make it 2-1.

Guard Filter dominated the third chukker scoring three goals to gain 4-2 lead.

Taimur struck his first goal, capitalising a 30-yard penalty-hit to level the score 2-2.

Hissam scored his second goal to put his team ahead before Taimur banged home his second goal to extend the lead.

In the fifth chukker, Hissam scored his third goal before Sufi Haris scored a consolation goal for the losers to make the tally.

Nee Punhal crushed AVTEC Media 7-4 1/2 to enter the semifinal. Nee Punhal meet REL in the prefinal Monday. The winners will play the final against Guard Filter Tuesday.

Arsalan Najib was the main scorer for Nee Punhal, scoring three goals. Usman Hai and Faaiz Rahim Khan added two goals each.

For the losing side, Irfan Ali Hyder, Jamal Iftikhar and Agha Murtaza Ali scored a goal each while one and a half goal was their handicap.
