ISLAMABAD, Nov 18: The federal education ministry has constituted a steering committee for the implementation of an action plan under Education Sector Reforms (ESR) in the Federal areas and provinces, an official source told Dawn.
The 13-members committee will be headed by Federal education secretary, and members will include education secretaries of the Punjab, Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Northern Areas.
Other members of the committee from the federal education ministry are: joint education secretary, administration; joint education advisors of HE wing, S&TE wing, EFA, curriculum wing and P&D wing; the directors-general, federal education directorate, and the AEPAM.
The objective of the committee is to take decisions on policy matters related to allocation of funds, project planning, appraisal of projects and release of funds to the executing agencies for implementation of ESR across the country.
The committee will also discuss and decide matters related to implementation of ESR to be assigned to it by the competent authority, the source said.
The committee will meet once every two months to review and monitor the implementation of the ESR.
The committee will be assisted by a sub-committee on planning and finance comprising joint education advisor (Planning), chief (Education), P&D Division and Federal Areas (Education), which will meet on monthly basis to facilitate approval of PC-1s and releases of funds.
