Seven booked for water theft

DADU, Dec 1: Seven landlords of Johi Taluka were booked by the Johi police for water theft on Sunday.

On the directives of the provincial secretary, Irrigation, two teams of the irrigation department paid a surprise visit to various parts of the Chejani, Chhinni, Noornari, Pahore, and Lakha waterways and the Johi barrage and found seven water courses had been tampered with.

They were led by the executive engineer, southern division, Dadu, Habibullah Kaboro.

The teams sealed all the tampered watercourses and seized 16 suction pumps from various places.

The police registered cases of water theft against seven landlords — Majeed Leghari, Adam Leghari, Mehboob Leghari, Achar Mari, Ali Bux Mari, Nadar Leghari and Nabi Bux Leghari.
