GILGIT, Feb 6: The recently repaired Naltar power project again developed fault on Monday due to which electricity supply to various parts of the Gilgit city was suspended.

It is to mention here that the water reservoir constructed for the 18MW Naltar power project had developed cracks a week earlier.

Officials said the crack was repaired, but again the same fault surfaced due to which the power station stopped functioning.

The authorities of water and power department said work for fixing the fault was being carried out by the engineers and as soon as it was done electricity to the affected areas would be restored.

NEGLIGENCE: A woman died at the civil hospital Kashrote during delivery due to the alleged negligence of the doctors. Her relatives have vowed to lodge a case against health authorities. An inexperienced LHV reportedly carried out operation on the   woman, Shehzadi Khalid, who gave birth to a baby girl, leading to severe complications and her death.

Mr Khalid Hussain, husband of the woman, said there was no doctor in the hospital. He said he made several calls to the director health and medical superintendent of the hospital but his calls went unattended. He said the oxygen cylinder at the ward was also empty.

When contacted Dr Ghulam Ali, director health services, said an inquiry had been initiated and responsible officials would be punished.—Correspondent
