Selectors short-list 27 probables

LAHORE, Nov 30: Twenty-seven probables out of 97 were selected for the Pakistan Whites training camp after two-day trials which ended at the National Hockey Stadium Saturday.

Trials were held to pick up Pakistan Whites team for the NBP League to be held in Lahore and Faisalabad from Dec 20 to 27. Pakistan Greens, Pakistan Whites and Juniors will participate in the league.

The chairman of the selection committee, Akhtar Rasool, and members Hassan Sardar, Saleem Nazim and Saeed Khan watched the probables in five sessions before shortlisting them.

Akhtar, while announcing the names of the probables, said the players had been selected on merit for which the selection committee had taken oath.

PHF secretary Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan said the Pakistan Whites would not represent the country at the forthcoming Azlan Shah Cup tournament in Kuala Lumpur next March.

He said different options were discussed but a final decision to this effect was yet to be taken. He, however, said both Whites and Juniors would be provided international exposure.

The training camp for Whites concludes on Nov 3 and resumes after Eid holidays on Nov 8.
