LAHORE, Feb 4: Thoroughbred colt Assassin has been bought in a private deal by a Rawalpindi race-horse-owner for the highest-ever price at Rs2 million for a Pakistan-bred four-year-old.
The son of Assassi out-of-Abouzouz Park, Assassin had enjoyed an exceptional racing career spanning over a year at the Lahore Racecourse during which he recorded five wins in as many outings in a stunning performance.
His memorable victory streak includes his triumph in the Listen To Me Plate clocking one minute 26 2/5 seconds over 1,400 metres.
Bred by Mirza Khurshid Baig the colt has so far proved himself to be a super star in the making, defeating all of his age-group rivals in Lahore. He has built up a reputation of being an illustrious son of Assassi, a stallion from Danzig-Northern Dancer-Nearctic bloodline.
The previous high priced colt was Northern Dancer, a son of Sindar out-of-Anpipolis and which was sold for Rs1.7million. But in his case paying a high price has not so far guaranteed a matching success on the track in his four-year turf career.—AG
