KARACHI, Feb 1: A man was shot dead near the People’s Stadium on Mauripur Road in the small hours of Wednesday, police said.
They said that the killing took place at around 2.30am near the People’s Stadium within the remit of the Kalri police station.
The police said that some armed men intercepted Tahir Hussain, 25, when he was headed towards the fisheries for work and shot him dead.
They said that it was not clear whether the armed men were on foot or riding a motorcycle.
The victim suffered bullet wounds and was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where he died.
Kalri SHO Safdar Mashwani said that the victim was a resident of Agra Taj Colony, Lyari, and lived with some bachelors.
He said the victim originally hailed from Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A case (FIR 21/2012) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified men on a complaint of the victim’s brother-in-law, Hazrat Shah, at the Kalri police station.
Man booked for killing workshop owner A middle-aged man was gunned down in a Malir locality on Wednesday, police said.
The killing took place within the remit of the Khokhrapar police station.
The police said 51-year-old Hasan Bakhsh was shot dead inside his auto shop in Khokhrapar No. 5. He sustained a bullet wound in the chest and died instantly.
A duty officer at the Khokhrapar police station said that the victim along with a son, Sultan, used to sleep in the workshop. On Wednesday morning, a man, Asif Hanif, came to the workshop and shot Hasan Bakhsh. However, the victim’s son overpowered him and people from the neighbourhood also gathered on the spot. Subsequently, the suspect was handed over to the police.
The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities. The victim was a father of seven children.
The police said that the suspect had some monetary dispute with the auto-workshop owner.
A case (FIR 15/2012) was registered under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code against Asif at the Khokhrapar police station on a complaint of the victim’s son.
